About the C Acorn User Group

Why Should I Join?

CAUG supports C and C++ users on RISC OS machines. We provide a forum for sharing experience, ideas and opinions. Our membership ranges from beginners to experts, individuals to companies and includes Acorn, Beebug, Clares Micro Supplies and Icon Technology Ltd, all of whom take an active part in the group. Our close association with major Acorn companies allowed us to published detailed news of Acorn C/C++ and Easy C++ months before the mainstream magazines. We can also provide members with the upgrade to Acorn C/C++, Acorn's application notes for extending the Toolbox and access to the RISC_OSLib source code, all free of charge.

What Will I Get For My Money?

CAUG is a special interest group of the Association of C and C++ Users, so if you join you'll be a member of both. The ACCU publishes a bimonthly journal which includes Acorn related articles by CAUG members. If you have an interest in C++ you can also join the C++ special interest group.

What's the ACCU?

The ACCU supports C and C++ users across all platforms. The membership is spread across the world and includes companies such as Microsoft, Borland and Clarion. As well as publishing C-Vu, the ACCU organises local meetings, runs C/C++ related tutorials and is involved in the standardisation of the C and C++ languages. C-Vu, the ACCU's journal, contains book reviews, opinions, programming tutorials and challenges and discussions of portability, code quality and standards.

Will My Bank Manager Have Something to Say?

No. Both CAUG and the ACCU are non-profit making. All of the organisers donate their time; you only pay for the production of the journals and administration costs. As examples, the cost of joining both CAUG and the ACCU for the 1999/2000 membership year is 25 pounds for individuals and 12.50 pounds for full time students. Full details of subscription fees are given on our membership form.

How Do I Join?

More information on joining the ACCU is available from the membership information page, including an online application form and a template that can be printed and sent to us with payment.
