This is another of those rare computing books that manages to stand the test of time. It is a collection of 13 essays that were originally published in Communications of the Association for Computing Machinery in the early 80s.

Like Brooks' The Mythical Man Month and the first three volumes of Knuth's The Art of Computer Programming it has a place on every programmers bookshelf. If it isn't already there, it's time you corrected the matter. By the way, read it before you put it on the shelf. I think you might learn something that will improve your code.
