This book is an excellent read. It is the author's rules of thumb for C/C++programming. He admits that he breaks most if not all his rules when circumstances require. He also knows that quite a few issues are religious ones (matters of personal belief rather than demonstrable fact).

From time to time he had me bouncing up and down with fury shouting 'idiot, you cannot do it like that' but at other times I found myself purring to find someone who agreed with me.

He takes all aspects of programming from late analysis and design through to testing and maintenance. Whatever he writes is worth your attention, you may think he is wrong or misguided but thinking about what he has to say will improve your perspective.

A book to read, think about pass on to a colleague and discuss when she has read it.
