This book is an official Borland Press product and so is supposedly tested against version 4 for any errors. A serious programmer's book for the intermediate to advanced programmer, the source code is available on disc for $19.95 plus $2 for handling. The text is for anyone, experienced programmer of course, who wishes to learn about writing Windows programs using the ObjectWindows Library (OWL) 2.0 class library.

The author has interviewed members of the Windows development team to help him relay their problems and goals as they developed the Windows operating system. This has helped him to place special emphasis on the architecture and inner workings of Windows as he teaches us to program in it.

Included are topics such as event-driven and pre-emptive multitasking, how to create menus, windows and dialogue boxes, an in-depth look at the Windows Graphic Display Interface (GDI) and a complete description of the dynamic linking mechanism, including how to build a minimum DLL. This looks like an extremely well put together text that includes 30 complete working sample programs; albeit without a source code disc.
